Charity Auction set for December 29th
The much-awaited auction of the slightly larger-than-life fiberglass Labrador retrievers will be held on Dec. 29. Postponed by Sept. 11, the auction culminates the highly successful summer-long arts festival held in Sun Valley, Idaho.
The proceeds from the auction will benefit local and national animal-related charities, including the Veterinary Medical Assistance Team (the veterinary arm of FEMA, which was very active at the World Trade Center site). Others include the Delta Society, Canine Companions for Independence, the Animal Shelter of the Wood River Valley and the Rescue Ranch Animal Sanctuary.
The festival featured 35 of the fiberglass retrievers, which were painted and decorated by artists, celebrities, school children and sponsors. Noted artists and celebrities included Patrick Haskett, Jamie Lee Curtis and Scott Glenn.
Prior to the live auction, pre-bids and proxy bids (for people unable to attend the live auction) will be accepted at the online auction site. For more information, call (208) 726-6688, or go to www.sunvalleylabs.net for a look at the dogs available at the auction.
