Tips on Feeding Hay

Be careful when you feed your horse hay. Alfalfa hay is normally excellent feed for mature horses, and is often used as a mineral supplement for pregnant mares and foals. The rare presence of blister beetles in this roughage accounts for its reputation as a troublesome feed.
